INTRANET DATABASE

Functionality's used : ACCESS is powerful enough to allow interesting uses. Requesting tools  do not require to write only one line of code. They make it possible to extract from the very precise data according to a multitude of criteria. The management of the relations between the bases makes it possible to bind the fields, to make cross requests. Easy to send your results towards a document of Word fusion or Excel tables.

ACCESS in network, it works, but it is not ORACLE . The requests can become very slow and scrash your LAN rather easily.

Last innovation present in Office 97. Like all the other applications of this universal package, you can convert any Access object to HTML format. Very convenient to publish a document on the intranet.

Applications implemented : Any specialist will told you that in order to conceive a database you do better to make a plan and to clearly identify the needs and the expected results. This is the theory. I'm not a database specialist and I discovered new and urgent needs every day !

My objective was to be able to make requests of the type the competitors we met on call for tender in 96 which are GED positioned on the automotive industry which employs + of 50 p and...the CEO has  blue eyes...

Intended to collect various sources of information like Internet, exhibitions, information coming from sales force, attributions of public markets... For this last, in particular, it was important to design forms of seizure which a secretary can easily inform.

Examples:

I use every day of the HTML conversion functionalities in order to publish  documents on the intranet. That said, there are some more convenient   tools , and complexes also, to make this conversion, but which are not included in the generator of the document.

Difficulties:

Information intended to be treated in this database can from the start being classified in two distinct families:

  1. external sources
  2. internal source

   1. A great quantity of information is available, accessible and free : the libraries, the Chamber of Commerce, trade unions, Internet abound in information which requires time (much, generally)to analyze them. Some people said that on Internet you spend 90 % of you time to sort not relevant information and 10% only with relevant one. Some search agent available on the market allows to find out relevant information on the World Wide Web.
With a small budget it is possible to be addressed to a specialized agency which can do the work. In the majority of the organizations referred to above, one access to the gray literature, i.e. out of the press.

It mean's that you have a competitive and significant advantage compared to competitors who have not implemented business intelligence.

   2. to see special page internal source
